THE LIFE AND WORK OF THE CHURCH              David Cook, Liturgist

ENTERING GOD’S HOUSE

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: As Caroline’s family, we gather as a congregation by the River Jordan asking God to wash over us until we all remember.

People: We are God’s beloved and we are blessed to be able to worship and to give thanks.

*HYMN No. 272 God of the Sparro

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Unison)

Lord God, sometimes we stand near the edge of the waters of life afraid to experience its healing grace. We confess that we do not always trust that we are loved, that we can be comforted, that we can find peace. So we resist and head the other way. We go in a different direction because we are afraid of what you ask of us. Afraid of what you asked of the martyrs of our faith. In our hearts, we know we need to know you and to share in the waters of salvation. We pray in the name of the One in whom we baptize. Amen.

*KYRIE ELEISON

Lord, have mercy upon us,

Christ, have mercy upon us,

Lord, have mercy upon us. Amen.

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: In the waters of baptism, our separation from God is bridged. Come now to the water and remember that you are beloved. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.

People: Thanks be to God.

All: Amen!
