*HYMN No. 376 Love Divine, All Loves Excelling

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Unison)
O God, forgive us when we answer your grace upon grace with grumble after grumble about cutbacks, shortfalls and limited resources. Forgive us when we answer your grace upon grace with grim predictions and grudging giving. Forgive us when we grip reality so tightly, we cannot loosen up to receive your surprises and possibilities, your gifts of life, family and friends. Forgive us when we cannot say “thank you.” We make this prayer with open hands and hearts. Amen.

*KYRIE ELEISON
Lord, have mercy upon us. Christ, have mercy upon us, Lord, have mercy upon us. Amen

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: We are forgiven and are being made new.
People: Thanks be to God. Amen.

RESPONDING TO THE WORD

*THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried, he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead, he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
