ENTERING GOD’S HOUSE

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:   In faith, Abraham and Sarah set out for a new land.

People:   In faith, we seek to follow God in our lives.

Leader:   In faith, the church seeks to discern the future to

which God calls us in these days.

People:   In faith, we gather now to worship, seeking new life in Christ.

Leader:   God of the present, past, and future, guide us now as

we continue our journey of faith.

*HYMN No. 461                                                                                God Is Here!

*CORPORATE PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Unison)

  By faith you called Abraham to sojourn, O God; by faith   Sarah conceived even when she was past the age. We read of  their witness and marvel at their obedience; our faith is meager by comparison. We rarely venture out without knowing the destination; we want to know what’s in it for us before we say yes to your call. Forgive our lack of daring and commitment and help us to trust you fully.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen

 *KYRIE ELEISON

               Lord, have mercy upon us.

               Christ, have mercy upon us.

                Lord, have mercy upon us.  Amen.

      *ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader:              The Lord is our strength and our song.
People:   He has become our salvation.

Leader:              Friends, believe the good news of salvation:

In Jesus Christ we are forgiven!

*RESPONSE TO GOD’S GRACE    (Hymn No. 355, Verse 1)

Hear the good news of salvation, Jesus died to show God’s love.

Such great kindness! Such great mercy! Come to us from heaven above.

Jesus Christ, how much I love you!  Jesus Christ, You save from Sin!

How I love you! Look upon me.  Love me still and cleanse within.

RESPONDING TO GOD’S WORD

*THE APOSTLES’ CREED

            I believe in God the Father Almighty,

    maker of heaven and earth.

            And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;

    who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,

    born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,

    was crucified, dead and buried; he descended into hell;

    the third day he rose again from the dead;

    he ascended into heaven,

    and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

    from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

            I believe in the Holy Ghost;

    the holy catholic church;

    the communion of saints,

    the forgiveness of sins;

    the resurrection of the body;

    and the life everlasting.  Amen

Do you have eye glasses that you are not using that you could donate?  Reading glasses are needed more than distance glasses, but they will take whatever is available.  There is a box in the Vaughan Room for these. We will deliver them to the Presbytery office by June 1.
