CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:  We gather in the presence of God, through whom all families on

              earth receive their life and their name.

People: We wish to be strengthened in our inner selves, that Christ may

              dwell in our hearts.                                                                                 Leader: We seek to be rooted and grounded in God's truth and in the love of

              Christ which surpasses understanding.
People: We come to worship and to praise the source of  love and peace.
All:        Glory be to God in the church and in Jesus Christ to all

              generations.

*HYMN No. 473                                                        For the Beauty of the Earth

*CORPORATE PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Unison)

 Loving God, we realize that we have not made our homes the dwelling place for your love that we would like - God forgive us. Too, often, we act like individuals who happen to share the same building, rather than family members who care for one another - God forgive us. Help us to renew our commitments to the growth and development of those who share our homes with us. Help us to communicate openly with one another and to show our love in the homes where we live. Amen.

*KYRIE ELEISON

               Lord, have mercy upon us.

               Christ, have mercy upon us.

                Lord, have mercy upon us.  Amen.

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON

*RESPONSE TO GOD’S GRACE    (Hymn No. 322)

 Spirit of the living God, Fall afresh on me;

             Spirit of the living God, Fall afresh on me.

             Melt me, mold me, Fill me, use me.

             Spirit of the living God, Fall afresh on me.

RESPONDING TO GOD’S WORD

*THE APOSTLES’ CREED

            I believe in God the Father Almighty,

    maker of heaven and earth.

            And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;

    who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,

    born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,

    was crucified, dead and buried; he descended into hell;

    the third day he rose again from the dead;

    he ascended into heaven,

    and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

    from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

            I believe in the Holy Ghost;

    the holy catholic church;

    the communion of saints,

    the forgiveness of sins;

    the resurrection of the body;

    and the life everlasting.  Amen
