ENTERING GOD’S HOUSE

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:     The earth and all that is in it belongs to God.

People:     For God has made the sea its foundation and made it firm upon

                the rivers of the deep.

Leader:   So let us rejoice in God and in all creation.

People:     We shall rejoice in the God of Hosts, the God of Glory!
Leader:     Lift up your heads, O gates! Lift them high,
                   O everlasting door!
People:     For the God of Glory shall enter and reign over us all!

*HYMN No. 467                                                                    How Great Thou Art

*CORPORATE PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Unison)

  Almighty and eternal God, we thank you that you have not left us alone in our sins and despair.  Loving us, you have brought us good news and set before us the way of life.  Yet we confess that we have failed to see the way.  In stubborn pride we have spurned your mercy and your help.  In selfishness we have turned away from those who need us.  We have allowed ourselves to be crushed by troubles, as though Christ has not been raised at all.  Forgive our faithlessness, and grant that we may know new life and hope, in the joy of the resurrection.  In Christ's name we pray.  Amen.

 *KYRIE ELEISON

               Lord, have mercy upon us.

               Christ, have mercy upon us.

                Lord, have mercy upon us.  Amen.

RESPONDING TO GOD’S WORD

*THE APOSTLES’ CREED

            I believe in God the Father Almighty,

    maker of heaven and earth.

            And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;

    who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,

    born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,

    was crucified, dead and buried; he descended into hell;

    the third day he rose again from the dead;

    he ascended into heaven,

    and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

    from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

            I believe in the Holy Ghost;

    the holy catholic church;

    the communion of saints,

    the forgiveness of sins;

    the resurrection of the body;

    and the life everlasting.  Amen
