MOMENT FOR DIMES FOR HUNGER

ENTERING GOD’S HOUSE

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:     As a shepherd seeks a lost sheep,
People:     So God seeks and saves the lost.
Leader:   Like a woman who searches for a lost coin until it is found,
People:   So God rejoices over one soul saved and restored.
Leader:   As a father receives a returning wayward son,
People:   So God welcomes us, and lets the past be forgiven.
Leader:   Therefore, let us praise God with thanksgiving that we are received.
People:   Let us receive and welcome and rejoice over one another in the            name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

*HYMN No. 482                                           Praise Ye the Lord, the Almighty

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Unison)

                  Eternal God, in every age you have raised up men and women to live and die in faith.  We confess that we are indifferent to your will.  You call us to proclaim your name, but we are silent.  You call us to do what is just, but we remain idle.  You call us to live faithfully, but we are afraid.  In your mercy forgive us.  Give us courage to follow in your way, that joined with those from ages past, who have served you with faith, hope and love, we may inherit the kingdom you promised in Jesus Christ.  Amen.

*KYRIE ELEISON

               Lord, have mercy upon us.

               Christ, have mercy upon us.

                Lord, have mercy upon us.  Amen.

RESPONDING TO GOD’S WORD

*THE APOSTLES’ CREED

            I believe in God the Father Almighty,

    maker of heaven and earth.

            And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;

    who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,

    born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,

    was crucified, dead and buried; he descended into hell;

    the third day he rose again from the dead;

    he ascended into heaven,

    and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

    from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

            I believe in the Holy Ghost;

    the holy catholic church;

    the communion of saints,

    the forgiveness of sins;

    the resurrection of the body;

    and the life everlasting.  Amen

Skip Lunch, Buy a Hymnal                                                                                 The new “Glory to God” hymnal, offered through PCUSA, is available for $17.50 each. It has taken the Presbyterian Committee on Congregational Song (PCOCS) a decade to complete this songbook.                                       We hope that you will accept the challenge to skip going out to eat lunch and instead, buy a hymnal. Our goal is to buy 100, for a total of $1,750. Honors and memorials can be added to your books. Donations can be placed in the pew envelopes designated for “Glory to God” and given to Linda Vaughan, our treasurer.                                                                                              Many thanks! — The Stewardship Committee

Adult leaders and high school helpers are needed. If you are interested in helping with this new program, please contact Julie Graham at scjules@hotmail.com or 803.804.4604.
