Leader:  The heavens declare the righteousness of God.
People:  The earth declares God’s beauty.
Leader:    From the rising of the sun to its setting
People:  God’s word shines forth in glory.

*HYMN No. 305                                             Come Sing, O Church, in Joy!

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Unison)  O Lord of mercy, we ask for honesty to accept responsibility for our errors and to understand the reasons for our failures. We ask for the courage to make our confessions, to seek your forgiveness for our offenses, to make restitution where possible, and to extend the same forgiveness to others that you extend to us. Forgive our doubt and renew our hope, so that we may receive the fullness of your grace, and live in the truth of Christ the Lord. Amen. *KYRIE ELEISON

         Lord, have mercy upon us.

Christ, have mercy upon us.

Lord, have mercy upon us. Amen.

                                 RESPONDING TO GOD’S WORD

*THE APOSTLES’ CREED

          I believe in God the Father Almighty,

   maker of heaven and earth.

           And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;

   who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,

   born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,

   was crucified, dead and buried; he descended into hell;

   the third day he rose again from the dead;

   he ascended into heaven,

   and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

   from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

           I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church;

   the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins;

   the resurrection of the body;

   and the life everlasting. Amen
