ENTERING GOD’S HOUSE

QUIET MOMENT OF PREPARATION

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: Welcome, friends, to this place.

People: Let us worship God in joy.

Leader: We are here in the presence of the One who feeds and protects us;

who accepts us and loves us.

People: Let us worship God in thanksgiving.

Leader: We are here in the name of Jesus who told us that our treasure is not

what we have but what we share.

People: Let us worship God.

*HYMN No. 475                                     Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Unison)
Compassionate God, forgive us, we pray, for forgetting that we are part of a wider family. It is easy to think that the things that are essential pertain only to us, that we are not grateful for those who came before us nor concerned for those who will come in the future. “As far as the east is from the west” is not speaking of our relationship with others in the world but of the depth of your grace in forgiving and renewing us. Grant that our faithfulness in this generation will be a sign of our gratefulness to our forebears, our love for our neighbors, and our grace to our children. In the names of your Son, Amen. *KYRIE ELEISON

         Lord, have mercy upon us.

Christ, have mercy upon us.

Lord, have mercy upon us. Amen.

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: Remember that God is a gracious God, who has been present

throughout the generations.

People: God seeks us out and calls us to repentance, renewal and

reconciliation.

All:      God loves us, and it is in the name of Jesus, God’s love

incarnate, that we are forgiven. Amen

*RESPONSE TO GOD’S GRACE   (Hymn No. 288)

Spirit of the living God, Fall afresh on me;

Spirit of the living God, Fall afresh on me.

Melt me, mold me, Fill me, use me.

Spirit of the living God, Fall afresh on me.
