PRELUDE The Fluharty Tradition

THE LIFE AND WORK OF THE CHURCH

ENTERING GOD’S HOUSE

QUIET MOMENT OF PREPARATION

CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: Give thanks to god!
People: With hearts full of gratitude, we offer thanks to God for life
that is good, for homes that are safe, for friends and family
who are loving, and for days that hold promise and peace.
Leader: Praise to God whose extravagance abounds!

*HYMN No. 463 How Firm a Foundation
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Unison) Gracious God, forgive us because we do not give ourselves to eternal causes, but live only for ourselves. Have mercy on us, Lord, because the gods of pleasure and self-fulfillment usurp your place in our hearts. Pardon us, God, because our commitment is to material things and not to spiritual ends. Forgive us, God, because you are extravagant in your giving while we are tight-fisted in our living. Cleanse our lives from these transgressions, Lord, and show us that for which we should live. In Christ’s name, we pray. Amen.

*KYRIE ELEISON
Lord, have mercy upon us.
Christ, have mercy upon us.
Lord, have mercy upon us. Amen.

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: Remember that God is a gracious God, who has been present
throughout the generations.
People: God seeks us out and calls us to repentance, renewal and
reconciliation.
All: God loves us, and it is in the name of Jesus, God’s love
incarnate, that we are forgiven. Amen

*RESPONSE TO GOD’S GRACE (Hymn No. 288)
Spirit of the living God, Fall afresh on me;
Spirit of the living God, Fall afresh on me.
Melt me, mold me, Fill me, use me.
Spirit of the living God, Fall afresh on me.
