ENTERING GOD’S HOUSE

QUIET MOMENT OF PREPARATION

CALL TO WORSHIP (from Psalm 118)

Leader:     O, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His steadfast love

endures forever!

People:  The Lord is our strength and our might; He has               become our salvation.

Leader:  The stone that the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.

People:  This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.

Leader:  This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad

in it!

 *HYMN No.  409                                          God Is Here!

 *LITANY OF CONFESSION

 Leader:  Dear friends, let us love one another, because love comes from God.

Whoever loves is a child of God and knows God.

People:  Jesus Christ, life of the world and of all creation, forgive   our  separation and grant us peace and unity.

Leader:  The peace that Christ gives is to guide us in the decisions we make,

for it is to this peace that God has called us together into one body.

People:  Jesus Christ, life of the world and of all creation, forgive our  separation and grant us peace and unity.

Leader:  With his own body he broke down the walls of separation. By his

death on  the cross Christ destroyed our divisions.

People:  Jesus Christ, life of the world and of all creation, forgive our separation and grant us peace and unity.

 *KYRIE ELEISON

Lord, have mercy upon us.                                                                                     Christ, have mercy upon us.                                                                                     Lord, have mercy upon us.  Amen.

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader:    Sisters and brothers, Peter says that once you were not a people,

but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy,

but now you have  received mercy.

Therefore, I declare to each of us, in Jesus Christ we find both

mercy and forgiveness.

People:    In Jesus Christ, we are a new creation! Behold, the old has

                 passed away, and the new has come!

*RESPONSE TO GOD’S GRACE    (Hymn No. 288)

Spirit of the living God, Fall afresh on me;                                                              Spirit of the living God, Fall afresh on me.                                                             Melt me, mold me, Fill me, use me.                                                                      Spirit of the living God, Fall afresh on me.

RESPONDING TO GOD’S WORD

*THE APOSTLES’ CREED

           I believe in God the Father Almighty,

    maker of heaven and earth.

            And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;

    who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,

    born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,

    was crucified, dead and buried; he descended into hell;

    the third day he rose again from the dead;

     he ascended into heaven,

    and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

    from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

            I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church;

    the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins;

    the resurrection of the body;

    and the life everlasting.  Amen
