CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:              Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna!

People:              Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!

Leader:              Blessed is the coming kingdom of our ancestor David!

People:              Hosanna in the highest heaven!

Leader:              Let us shout praises to our Lord,

People:              Spread palm branches before him,

Leader:              And worship him this day and every day.

*HYMN No. 196                                                   All Glory, Laud, and Honor

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION  (Unison)

Glorious God, today is a wonderful day.  We love to shout “Hosanna” and wave palm branches.  We confess that there are times when we lift our voices in praise of you and then turn around and speak cruelly to another.  We joyfully tell you how amazing you are and then use our tongues to speak ill of another.  We lift our arms gratefully to wave palm branches and then lift our voices to hurt another.  Your Word tells us this is wrong, O God.  Forgive us and help us to live our praise by treating others with your love and compassion.  We pray for the sake of Christ’s present and coming kingdom.  Amen  *KYRIE ELEISON

Lord, have mercy upon us.                                                                                                 Christ, have mercy upon us.

Lord, have mercy upon us.  Amen.

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader:    Friends, believe the good news of the Bible.  Through Jesus Christ,

we are forgiven.

People:    Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one

  another.

*RESPONSE TO GOD’S GRACE    (Hymn No. 288)

    Spirit of the living God, Fall afresh on me;

Spirit of the living God, Fall afresh on me.

Melt me, mold me, Fill me, use me.

Spirit of the living God, Fall afresh on me.

RESPONDING TO GOD’S WORD

*THE APOSTLES’ CREED

            I believe in God the Father Almighty,

    maker of heaven and earth.

            And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;

    who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,

    born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,

    was crucified, dead and buried; he descended into hell;

    the third day he rose again from the dead;

     he ascended into heaven,

    and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

    from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

            I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church;

    the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins;

    the resurrection of the body;

    and the life everlasting.  Amen
