QUIET MOMENT OF PREPARATION

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:              Alleluia, Christ is risen!

People:  He is risen indeed!

Leader:              He has broken all barriers, he has set us free!

People:  Now we can travel forward without fear or dread.  Now we can

be Easter people!  Now we can proclaim the Good News that

Christ is alive forever!  Now we can smile at death and live our

               lives in dignity and hope!

Leader:  In our unfolding journey of faith, we are continually astonished by

this day!  We give thanks for this day!  We live in this day because

on this day God gives us evidence of the gospel promise!

People:              In Him, all stones can be lifted, all powers can be defeated, all

sickness can be cured, all obstacles can be overcome.

Leader:              There is only faith and hope and a journey that beckons us with the

expectant radiance of the first Easter morn!

People:              Thanks be to God for this day of days!  Amen

*HYMN No. 232                                                   Jesus Christ Is Risen Today

FLOWERING OF THE CROSS

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION  (Unison)

Though we have sinned, we are affirmed; though we have not loved, we are loved; though we have walked away from God’s call, we are drawn back with a promise of a new opportunity, a new hope, a new chance to show the world, and ourselves, that we are free in Christ.  Amen *KYRIE ELEISON

Lord, have mercy upon us.                                                                                                 Christ, have mercy upon us.

Lord, have mercy upon us.  Amen.

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader:              This is the good news, which we have received, in which we stand,

and by which we are saved, if we hold it fast:  that Christ died for

our sins according to the scriptures, that he was buried, that he was

raised on the third day, and that he appeared first to the women,

then to Peter, and to the Twelve, and then to many faithful

witnesses.  Believe the good news of the Gospel, through Jesus

Christ we are forgiven.

People:              Thanks be to God for this inexpressible redemption.  In the

name of the compassionate Christ, we are grateful to say, Amen

*RESPONSE TO GOD’S GRACE    (Hymn No. 288)

    Spirit of the living God, Fall afresh on me;

Spirit of the living God, Fall afresh on me.

Melt me, mold me, Fill me, use me.

Spirit of the living God, Fall afresh on me.

*AN EASTER CREED  (Unison)

We believe in Jesus Christ who was resurrected from the dead by God almighty.

We believe in Him who gave us the hope of life hereafter through his Gospel of eternal life.

We believe that whoever believes in Him and his Gospel will never die, but have everlasting life.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the resurrection and the life, both here in this world and in the world to come.

We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God.  Jesus Christ is the first and the last, the beginning and the end; he is our Lord and our God.  Amen
