THE LIFE AND WORK OF THE CHURCH

ENTERING GOD’S HOUSE

QUIET MOMENT OF PREPARATION

CALL TO WORSHIP (from Psalm 24)

Leader:  The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it. The world and all its

people belong to him.

People:  For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the

               ocean’s depths.

Leader:  Open up, ancient gates, open up ancient doors, and let the King of

Glory enter?

People:              Who is the King of Glory?

Leader:  The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.

People:              Who is the King of Glory?

Leader:  The Lord God Almighty. He is the King of Glory.

All:        Let us worship the Lord who is the King of Glory!

*HYMN No. 409                                                                           God Is Here!

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION: (Unison)

            In the midst of our “summer”, O Lord, so many things have claimed our attention. We have worked hard this year to earn a little rest and recreation, to break away from the stresses of our everyday living. Yet, in the midst of our attempts at leisure, we have often pushed our worship of you aside. We have sometimes failed to acknowledge your Lordship, your selfless gift of Jesus Christ, and the peace you offer to each of us.

Forgive us, Lord, when we are tempted to stray away from our worship and your Word, and focus on ourselves and our own desires and needs. Help us to remember your wondrous blessings, and in times of tragedy and sorrow, help us to speak a word of hope. Be with us in this season of summer and throughout our days, equipping us for ministry and mission wherever we are. Amen.

*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE:    (KYRIE ELEISON)

Lord, have mercy upon us.                                                                                                 Christ, have mercy upon us.

Lord, have mercy upon us.  Amen.

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: God is merciful and pours God’s love on us, abundantly.

All:       In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven, Hallelujah, Amen!

*RESPONSE TO GOD’S GRACE    (Hymn No. 468, vs. 1&3)

In my life, Lord, be glorified; be glorified.

In my life, Lord, be glorified today.

In your church, Lord, be glorified; be glorified.

In your church, Lord, be glorified today.

RESPONDING TO GOD’S WORD

*THE APOSTLES’ CREED

            I believe in God the Father Almighty,

    maker of heaven and earth.

            And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;

    who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,

    born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,

    was crucified, dead and buried; he descended into hell;

    the third day he rose again from the dead;

     he ascended into heaven,

    and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

    from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

            I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church;

    the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins;

    the resurrection of the body;

    and the life everlasting.  Amen

MARK YOUR CALENDAR – SUNDAY, AUGUST 16, 3:00 pm

AFTERNOON TEA AND BASKET SALE

Back by popular demand is our Afternoon Tea and Silent Basket Auction on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015.

The Stewardship Committee is already hard at working planning the menu, new entertainment, and baskets, baskets, baskets. Proceeds from this event will again be put towards the Building Fund, paying down the loan balance on our beautiful fellowship hall. We are getting close to $0!

Tickets are $10.00 each. You may reserve a table for eight, if you wish, and we will try our best to seat friends together.

Again this year, we ask for your help in creating themed baskets for us to auction during the Afternoon Tea. The more creative, the better! We hope that this part of our event will again having our ladies fighting over baskets and baked goods!

Thanks in advance for your support,

Julie, Betty, Linda, Julia and Carol Leedy
