CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:              Give ear, O my people, to my teaching; incline your ears to the

words of my mouth, says the Lord.

People:              We will tell of your glorious deeds, O Lord, and the wonders

              that you have done.

Leader:              Tell your children and your children’s children that they should

set their hope in God.

Leader:  And not forget yours works, O God, but keep your

              commandments.

Unison:  Let us worship God.

*HYMN No. 337                                                       My Country, ‘Tis of Thee

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION: (Unison)

O God, whose Spirit searches all things, and whose love bears all things, encourage us to draw near to you in sincerity and truth.  Save us from a worship of the lips while our hearts are far away.  Save us from the useless labor of attempting to conceal ourselves from You.  Make us strong enough to bear the vision of truth, and to do away with all falsehood, pretense, and hypocrisy.  Help us, O God in this hour, to acknowledge our dependence on the purity that abides our uncleanness, the patience that forgives our faithlessness, the truth that overshadows our falsity and compromise.  And may we have the grace of gratitude, and the desire to dedicate ourselves to You.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.

*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE:    (KYRIE ELEISON)

Lord, have mercy upon us.                                                                                                 Christ, have mercy upon us.

Lord, have mercy upon us.  Amen.

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader:    Friends, believe the good news of the Bible. Through Jesus Christ,

we are forgiven.

People:    Because we are forgiven, let us be the first to give a friendly

sign, to nod first, smile first, speak first, and when called for,

                  forgive first.

*RESPONSE TO GOD’S GRACE    (Hymn No. 468, vs. 1&3)

In my life, Lord, be glorified; be glorified.

In my life, Lord, be glorified today.

In your church, Lord, be glorified; be glorified.

In your church, Lord, be glorified today.

Back by popular demand is our Afternoon Tea and Silent Basket Auction on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015.

The Stewardship Committee is already hard at working planning the menu, new entertainment, and baskets, baskets, baskets. Proceeds from this event will again be put towards the Building Fund, paying down the loan balance on our beautiful fellowship hall. We are getting close to $0!
