THE LIFE AND WORK OF THE CHURCH

ENTERING GOD’S HOUSE

QUIET MOMENT OF PREPARATION

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:            The Lord be with you.

People:            And also with you.

Leader:            This is the day that the Lord has made;

People:            Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Leader:            O come, let us sing to the Lord and shout with joy to the rock of our             salvation!

People:            Let us come into God’s presence with thanksgiving, singing

            joyful songs of praise.

*HYMN No. 386                                                            Come, Worship God

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION: (Unison)

            Holy and merciful God, in your presence we confess our sinfulness, our shortcomings, and our offenses against you. You alone know how often we have sinned in wandering from your ways, in wasting your gifts, in forgetting your love. Have mercy on us, O Lord, forgive our sins, and help us to live in your light, and walk in your ways, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE:   (KYRIE ELEISON)

Lord, have mercy upon us.                                                                                                Christ, have mercy upon us.

Lord, have mercy upon us. Amen.

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader:            The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus

came into the world to save sinners. He himself bore our sins in

his body on the cross, that we might be dead to sin, and alive to

all that is good. I declare to you in the name of Jesus Christ, you

are forgiven. Believe the Good News!

People:            Through Jesus Christ we are forgiven, healed, and made

            whole! Thanks be to God! Amen.

*RESPONSE TO GOD’S GRACE   (Hymn No. 468, vs. 1&3)

In my life, Lord, be glorified; be glorified.

In my life, Lord, be glorified today.

In your church, Lord, be glorified; be glorified.

In your church, Lord, be glorified today.

RESPONDING TO GOD’S WORD

*THE APOSTLES’ CREED

          I believe in God the Father Almighty,

   maker of heaven and earth.

           And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;

   who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,

   born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,

   was crucified, dead and buried; he descended into hell;

   the third day he rose again from the dead;

     he ascended into heaven,

   and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

   from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

           I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church;

   the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins;

   the resurrection of the body;

   and the life everlasting. Amen
