QUIET MOMENT OF PREPARATION

CALL TO WORSHIP                                           Ashley Overstreet, Liturgist

Leader:            O sing to the Lord a new song;

People: Sing to the Lord, all the earth.

Leader:   Sing and give praise to God’s name.

People: Tell the glad news of salvation from day to day!

*HYMN No. 409                                                                  God Is Here

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION: (Unison)

Holy God, our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide, and too deep to undo. Forgive what our lips tremble to name, what our hearts can no longer bear, and what has become a crossroads of faith. Set us free from a past that we cannot change. Open to us a future that will shape us according to your grace. Help us to be more Christ-like in all that we are and in all that we do. Amen.

*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Kyrie Eleison)

Lord, have mercy upon us.

Christ, have mercy upon us.

Lord, have mercy upon us. Amen

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: Friends, hear the good news of Jesus Christ!

People:  May the mercies of God forgive all our sins and strengthen us

            by the power of the Holy Spirit.

*RESPONSE TO GOD’S GRACE   (Hymn No. 468, vs. 1&3)

In my life, Lord, be glorified; be glorified.

In my life, Lord, be glorified today.

In your church, Lord, be glorified; be glorified.

In your church, Lord, be glorified today.

RESPONDING TO GOD’S WORD

*THE APOSTLES’ CREED

          I believe in God the Father Almighty,

   maker of heaven and earth.

           And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;

   who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,

   born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,

   was crucified, dead and buried; he descended into hell;

   the third day he rose again from the dead;

     he ascended into heaven,

   and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

   from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

           I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church;

   the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins;

   the resurrection of the body;

   and the life everlasting. Amen

*FALL GATHERING

Ladies, the annual PW Fall Gathering will be at Bethelwoods on Saturday, October 10th.  It begins at 9:30 and goes through lunch ending about 1:30.  It will be a very interesting meeting with music, worship and a guest speaker on a current topic of interest to PW.   This is always a good meeting and a beautiful time of year to be at Bethelwoods.  Since I am the Liaison for District 2 now I would love for you to go and represent our church with me.  Each church in the presbytery will be recognized and asked to stand with their members attending.  Lunch will be provided by the Bethelwoods staff and will be $10.00.  Please let me know if you can attend.
