ENTERING GOD’S HOUSE

QUIET MOMENT OF PREPARATION

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: I will bless the Lord at all times,                                              People: God’s praise will continually be in my mouth.

Leader: O magnify the Lord with me,

People: Let us praise God’s name together!

*HYMN No. 65                                           Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION: (Unison)                      (Martin Luther)

Lord, we are empty vessels that need to be filled. Lord, fill us for we are weak in faith; strengthen us. We are cold in love; warm us. Make us fervent, that our love may go out to our neighbors. We do not have a strong and firm faith; at times we doubt and are unable to trust you altogether. O Lord, help us. Strengthen our faith and trust in you. Amen.

*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Kyrie Eleison)

Lord, have mercy upon us.

Christ, have mercy upon us.

Lord, have mercy upon us.  Amen

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON  (John Calvin, Institutes of the Christian Religion: 3.2.7)

Leader: Faith is the firm and certain knowledge of God’s benevolence

toward us, founded upon the truth of the freely given promise in

Christ, both revealed to our minds and sealed upon our hearts                      through the Holy Spirit.

People: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven and strengthened.

              Thanks be to God.

*RESPONSE TO GOD’S GRACE   (Hymn No. 468, vs. 1&3)

In my life, Lord, be glorified; be glorified.

In my life, Lord, be glorified today.

In your church, Lord, be glorified; be glorified.

In your church, Lord, be glorified today.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH                              The Scots Confession, 3.01

We confess and acknowledge one God alone, to whom alone we must cleave, whom alone we must serve, whom only we must worship, and in whom alone we put our trust. Who is eternal, infinite, immeasurable, incomprehensible, omnipotent, invisible; one in substance and yet distinct in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. By whom we confess and believe all things in heaven and earth, visible and invisible, to have been created, to be retained in their being, and to be ruled and guided by his inscrutable providence for such end as his eternal wisdom, goodness, and justice have appointed, and to the manifestation of his own glory.
