ENTERING GOD’S HOUSE

QUIET MOMENT OF PREPARATION

CALL TO WORSHIP                                                       (Psalm 91, Adapted)

Leader:   The Lord is our refuge and fortress.

All:         God is near to those who call upon the name of the Lord.

Leader:   God promises to be with God’s people in times of joy and in times                of trouble.

All:         God will show us the promise of salvation.

*HYMN No. 336                                                               We Gather Together

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Leader:    Let us confess our sins to God and to one another and wait for                      God’s gracious response.

People:   God of mercy, you sent Jesus Christ to seek and save the lost.        We confess that we have strayed from you and turned aside    from your way. We are misled by pride, for we see ourselves         pure when we are stained, and great when we are small. Have                mercy, O God, and forgive our sin. Return us to paths of                            righteousness through Jesus Christ, our Savior.

               (Period of silent confession).

Leader:   Amen.

*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE  (Kyrie Eleison)

Lord, have mercy upon us.

Christ, have mercy upon us.

Lord, have mercy upon us.  Amen

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON                                                                          Leader:   Jesus Christ is the way and the truth and the life.                   People:   In Christ we have all received grace upon grace for He is our         eternal hope. Christ is patient and full of mercy to all who call          upon our Lord’s name.

*RESPONSE TO GOD’S GRACE    (Hymn No. 468, vs. 1&3)

In my life, Lord, be glorified; be glorified.

In my life, Lord, be glorified today.

In your church, Lord, be glorified; be glorified.

In your church, Lord, be glorified today.

RESPONDING TO GOD’S WORD

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Unison)                           The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty

                maker of heaven and earth.

            And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;

    who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,

    born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,

    was crucified, dead and buried; he descended into hell;

    the third day he rose again from the dead;

     he ascended into heaven,

    and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

    from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

            I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church;

    the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins;

    the resurrection of the body;

    and the life everlasting. Amen.
