ENTERING GOD’S HOUSE

QUIET MOMENT OF PREPARATION

CALL TO WORSHIP                                                    (Psalm 27:4, Adapted)

Leader:   There is one thing we asked of the Lord, that we will seek after.

People:   That is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of our lives,                  to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in God’s                           temple.

Leader:   Sisters and brothers, God is good, and in love and mercy greets us    here.

People:   Let us worship God!

*HYMN No. 12                                         Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Leader:   The Lord is our light and our salvation; whom shall we fear? With    humbles hearts, let us confess our sins before God and one another.

People:   Merciful God, you have made us citizens of heaven, but we                         confess we have set our minds on earthly things. Yet, you know          the desires of our heart and nothing is hidden from you. By the      power of the Holy Spirit, transform our sin-weakened bodies to            the glory of Christ, that we may stand firm and be the body of               Christ for the world. (Silent Confession).

Leader:   Lord, hear our prayers, Amen.

*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE  (Kyrie Eleison)

Lord, have mercy upon us.

Christ, have mercy upon us.

Lord, have mercy upon us.  Amen

                                                                                                                  *ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader:   God, our light and our salvation, does not forsake us or leave us       with our sin.

People:  In Christ we are forgiven and offered the gift of healing                 repentance. Thanks be to God!

*RESPONSE TO GOD’S GRACE    (Hymn No. 468, vs. 1&3)

In my life, Lord, be glorified; be glorified.

In my life, Lord, be glorified today.

In your church, Lord, be glorified; be glorified.

In your church, Lord, be glorified today.

RESPONDING TO GOD’S WORD

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Unison)                           The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty

                maker of heaven and earth.

            And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;

    who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,

    born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,

    was crucified, dead and buried; he descended into hell;

    the third day he rose again from the dead;

     he ascended into heaven,

    and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

    from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

            I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church;

    the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins;

    the resurrection of the body;

    and the life everlasting. Amen.

JOIN US THIS LENTEN SEASON FOR 40 DAYS OF PRAYER.

Together we are reading online devotions (email and church facebook page) to help us be more intentional to live a holy Lent. Paper copies are available upon request. Together we are also using a Prayer Wall in the Vaughan Room. Take some time each week to pray for the prayer cards and also write a prayer of your own. May God’s presence in our prayers move us to a deeper place of faith as we journey towards the cross and empty tomb.
