RESPONDING TO GOD’S WORD

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Unison)A Brief Statement of Faith, 10.4-10.6

In a broken and fearful world

The Spirit gives us courage

            to pray without ceasing,

to witness among all peoples to Christ as Lord and Savior,

to unmask idolatries in Church and culture,

to hear the voices of peoples long silenced,

and to work with others for justice, freedom, and peace.

In gratitude to God, empowered by the Spirit,

we strive to serve Christ in our daily tasks

and to live holy and joyful lives,

even as we watch for God’s new heaven and new earth,

                        praying, “Come, Lord Jesus!”

With believers in every time and place,

we rejoice that nothing in life or in death

can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.        Amen.

“Love is a Verb” F00D & SOUPER BOWL OF CARING

SUNDAY COLLECTION

We have decided to extend our collection of food for the HOPE in Lancaster food pantry as well as take up a monetary collection on Feb. 7 to participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring, with the funds also going to HOPE. We feel that combining this effort of food and money will make a bigger impact on helping the poor in our county.

The Souper Bowl of Caring was started in Columbia after a simple

prayer by seminary intern Brad Smith at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church of “Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us to be mindful of those who are without a bowl of soup to eat.” Ever since collections have been taken to support a local charity on the day that people

As we cheer on the Carolina Panthers, we hope you will be just as excited to help us make a real difference for HOPE in Lancaster with your food and monetary donations.

Thank you.
