CALL TO WORSHIP                                                       Psalm 139, Adapted

Leader: O Lord, you have searched us and known us.

People: God, you are acquainted with all our ways.

Leader:  Lord, you hem us in, behind and before, and you lay your hand                   upon us.

People: Such knowledge is too wonderful. God, your love and care                        amaze us.

Leader:  Let us worship God!

*HYMN No. 267                                             Come, Christians, Join to Sing

Leader: When our souls are suffering in silence, call out to the Lord our       God, who heals our brokenness, who lifts us up from the pit and       restores our lives. Let us confess our sin and wait for God’s                         gracious response.

People: Lord God, you know us better than we know ourselves. You         know our thoughts and our deeds. Forgive us when we do not      honor your ways. Forgive us when our sense of unworthiness        becomes an obstacle to our faith. Forgive us when we try to flee             from your presence. Guide us by your spirit. Lead us on the  path to right relationships with you and one another. Amen.

Lord, have mercy upon us.

Christ, have mercy upon us.

Lord, have mercy upon us.  Amen

Leader:  Even as God, our Creator, searches our hearts, our Lord and Savior,            Jesus Christ, leads us in the everlasting way. God is good all the     time.

People: All the time God is good.  Thanks be to God!

*RESPONSE TO GOD’S GRACE   (Hymn No. 468, vs. 1&3)

In my life, Lord, be glorified; be glorified.

In my life, Lord, be glorified today.

In your church, Lord, be glorified; be glorified.

In your church, Lord, be glorified today.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Unison)                           The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty

               maker of heaven and earth.

            And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;

    who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,

    born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,

    was crucified, dead and buried; he descended into hell;

    the third day he rose again from the dead;

     he ascended into heaven,

    and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

    from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

           I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church;

    the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins;

    the resurrection of the body;

    and the life everlasting. Amen.
