ENTERING GOD’S HOUSE

QUIET MOMENT OF PREPARATION

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: Christ is risen!

People:  Christ is risen indeed!

Leader:  Alleluia! Celebrate God in this sacred place.

People:  Celebrate God in all places under heaven.

Leader:  Give praise for God’s resurrecting power!

People:  Let everything with life and breath praise the Lord!

*HYMN No. 233                                                      The Day of Resurrection!

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Leader:  When we keep our fears and faults locked up inside us, it is hard to             be healed and receive new life. So let us open ourselves to God in        confession, trusting the Lord’s desire to give us peace. Let us pray    together.

People: God of the empty tomb and our empty hearts, when we are                      afraid to speak our faith in the world, forgive us and help us              find our voice. When we are afraid to forgive and love again,       forgive us and give us the power to forgive. When we are afraid          to stand up to misguided authority, join with the weak to make            us all strong. When we are locked behind our doubts and fears,     pass through the barricades, open our hearts, and give us peace.    Amen.

*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Kyrie Eleison)

Lord, have mercy upon us.

Christ, have mercy upon us.

Lord, have mercy upon us.  Amen

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: Christ comes with healing light into our locked places and shadowy             hurts, resurrecting our spirits and breathing into us new life. Friends        believe the Good News! As God’s own forgiven people, go to bring             peace, forgiveness, and new life to the world in the name of Jesus      Christ.

People: Thanks be to God.

*RESPONSE TO GOD’S GRACE   (Hymn No. 468, vs. 1&3)

In my life, Lord, be glorified; be glorified.

In my life, Lord, be glorified today.

In your church, Lord, be glorified; be glorified.

In your church, Lord, be glorified today.

RESPONDING TO GOD’S WORD

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Unison)                           The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty

               maker of heaven and earth.

            And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;

    who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,

    born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,

    was crucified, dead and buried; he descended into hell;

    the third day he rose again from the dead;

     he ascended into heaven,

    and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

    from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

           I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church;

    the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins;

    the resurrection of the body;

    and the life everlasting. Amen.

ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING

A total of $294.00 has been received for One Great Hour of Sharing. Donations will be received again today.

Since 1949, Presbyterians have joined with millions of other Christians through OGHS to share God’s love with our neighbors-in-need around the world. Your generous gifts to this Special Offering help provide relief to those affected by natural disasters, provide food to the hungry, and assist in helping to empower the poor and oppressed. All loose money collected on Easter Sunday will be contributed to OGHS. Thank you!
