Asking the Minister:
The minister of Van Wyck Presbyterian Church will perform most weddings. You will need to ask him as soon as you know your date. Should you decide to have another minister perform your wedding you will want to secure permission from the minister of the Van Wyck Presbyterian Church. He will be glad to assist you in any way. He will put your date on the church calendar.
Counseling:
The minister will provide pre-marital counseling. Should you desire to have another minister counsel you, you will want to secure permission from the minister of the Van Wyck Presbyterian Church.
Music:
Music must be appropriate – music historically used in weddings, recognized as music having a unique place in worship as religious. If recorded music is used it must be approved by the minister.
Fees:
The bride and groom will discuss fees with each of the following persons:
Minister: An honorarium is appropriate.
Organist: Fee to be negotiated directly with organist.
Bulletins:
The church secretary will print wedding bulletins, if desired. There is a fee for this service.
Use of Buildings:
All buildings must be returned to clean and orderly state in preparation for Sunday services. Tables, chairs and other furnishings that are moved must be put back in place.
Decorations:
Drip-less candles must be used.
No floral arrangements or decorations may be placed on the piano or the organ.
No rice or confetti may be used inside or outside the church buildings. Birdseed or bubbles may be used outside.
Responsibility for damages:
The bride and groom are responsible for any damages.
Building Fees: (Members)
Vaughan Room: $5 per hour. Maximum $50.00
Fellowship Room: $10 per hour. Maximum $100
Kitchen: $5 per hour. Maximum $50
Sanctuary: No fee will be charged.
Building Fees: Non-Members
A fee of $500.00 will be charged for use of the church for the rehearsal, the wedding and reception, payable as follows:
1. A deposit of $100.00 must be made when the church is reserved.
2. The balance of $400.00 must be paid prior to the wedding date.
